Lecture: The Morphing Pencil of Nature: Photography, New Materials and the Changing Landscape by photographer Garie Waltzer
Special advanced photography class as Myers Artist-in-Residence, Summer, 2009 Garie Waltzer’s beautifully crafted carbon pigmented inkjet images are both a departure from and bedfellow to her past explorations in imaging technologies. Her lecture will visit old work and new, process and content, and the impact of method on meaning. A participating photographer in the Emily Davis Gallery exhibition “Seen in China” – her large scale documentary landscapes explore the convergence of time, place and populace. Recently commissioned to produce work for the prestigious George Gund Foundation 2007 annual report, Waltzer is also a recipient of a 2007 Ohio Arts Council Grant in Photography.
