A painter from the well-known Hollywood film dynasty, Lucas Reiner has been painting since the mid-eighties and has recently focused his attention on depicting trees from the Los Angeles-based neighborhoods that he frequents. Since 2001, his work has addressed the impact that industrialized society has had on trees and how their form is altered and transformed by such landscapes in flux. A recent monograph, Los Angeles Trees, published by Prestel in 2008, captures Reiner’s tree meditations.
Lucas Reiner studied at the Parsons School of Design in both New York and Paris as well at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. His recent exhibitions include solo shows at Galerie Biedermann, Munich, Germany, Pocket Utopia, Brooklyn, NY, the Carl Berg Gallery, Los Angeles, California, the Gian Ferrari Arte Contemporanea, Milan, Italy and Bennett Roberts Fine Art, Los Angeles, California.
