Mark Soppeland received his B. F. A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1974 and his M. F. A. from Ohio State University in 1976. A painter, sculptor and designer he has shown his work in over three hundred and fifty exhibitions on four continents. He has been awarded four Ohio Arts Council Individual Artists' Fellowships. During the summer of 2002 he spent two months in Prague, Czech Republic on an OAC International Artist in Residence Fellowship. He has created over fifty public art projects that include works for Suma Health Systems; Prague Center for Contemporary Art, Prague, Czech Rep.; Klenova Institute, Klenova, Czech Rep.; Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron; Akron-Summit County Public Library; TIME WARNER Cable, The Bravo Networks, and Americans for the Arts; Summit County Children's Services Board; Cleveland Public Theater; Philadelphia Children's Hospital; Metro Health Medical Center; Akron Art Museum; Kohler Art Center; Suma Health Systems and E J Thomas Performing Arts Hall. A Distinguished Professor at the University of Akron he is beginning his thirtieth-second year of teaching at the Myers School of Art this fall.
