Dave Szalay has a B.F.A. in graphic design and M.A. in communications from the University of Akron. Interests include children's book illustration, sustainability, design management, ideation strategies, and new technologies in communication. Dave began his career as a graphic designer at Malone Advertising before accepting a position at GES Exposition services. At GES he worked as creative director coordinating national exhibit, graphic, and display design operations. In 1994, Dave moved to AGC, Inc. as vice president of creative services. At AGC Dave was instrumental in generating new client proposals and managed design and prepress operations for the full service print communications firm. In 1996, Dave founded the multidisciplinary design studio, Szalay Design Associates, Inc. Award winning SDA produced print, interactive media, illustration, video, and exhibits for businesses and institutions both regionally and internationally. Today, SzalayDesign operates as a diverse design and communications consultancy with a national client base. Dave splits his time between the University of Akron, MSM School of Art, SzalayDesign, and sons Alex and Matt and wife Krista.
