With four full-time faculty, the Mary Schiller Myers School of Art has the largest undergraduate photography program in Ohio. The program is structured to provide in-depth experience in black and white, fine art photography as well as in color printing, commercial photography, digital imaging, and alternative approaches to the medium. Technical mastery and advanced conceptual thinking are emphasized, along with a solid grounding in historical and contemporary issues.

Two graduates of the program have been awarded the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship, and several have received grants from the Ohio Arts Council.

State-of-the-art facilities include separate darkrooms for introductory and advanced students, a color darkroom with a 26" automated roller transport print processor, two commercial studios with 4" x 5" view cameras and studio strobe units, and access to digital imaging computer labs.

Degree Requirements

Core/foundations courses in drawing, two dimensional design, three dimensional design, and life drawing.

Major courses; a minimum of 7 courses in photography .

Other requirements: art history, computer courses, art studio electives, printmaking courses, review process.

General education courses: English, social science, natural science, humanities, cultural diversity, physical education, math, speech.
